Designing a Portfolio

Sample portfolio spreads

We’re working on making portfolios for our senior show in class. These are sample spreads to give the class an idea of what I’m thinking for mine. The photo quality (particularly on the chip bags) is awful, but these are just rough mock-ups. Seriously—first spread, second page is horrendous but it will be good I promise.

Speaking of our senior show, I’m designing the website for the event, which I’m happy for because it will be a great portfolio piece itself. The art direction is by Brandon so I had a good solid footing to start off on. I’ll post info on the show itself as it becomes finalized, but the site should be up soon and that will cover everything you need to know.

UPDATE: Forgot to mention, I updated my resumé. For some reason I feel the need to say this, even though it’s not very important. I’m just that way I guess.

Pesky little chips. All photos were taken by Ben Jack with direction by me. The shoot was hella fun, and proved to me that there’s nothing better than having a great photographer take custom pictures for your projects. Seriously, Ben is wonderful, and shame on you all if you don’t visit his website.

Geoff was the winner as far as fuckin’ rage goes. He is an angry, angry man.

I’ll have the final product of this shoot posted soon (read: whenever I actually finish it).

This was done in a couple minutes as an idea for a project. I’m going another direction now so it’s a toss away. It’s no secret I’m a fan of the 8-bit look though, and the old green LCDs bring a nostalgic tear to my eye, so don’t be surprised if I do something more with this.

Command-D Poster

There was a well-intentioned but short-lived graphic design club here at Winthrop for a while. One of the things we did to try and promote design was to let a different member design each weeks poster. This only fell to me once and it was fairly close to the beginning of the club’s run so I tried to promote the community aspect of joining the club.

Also, Legos are the bomb.

I did this poster for a Facebook event (how very tech-savvy of me) hence no need for a lot of info. I think the poster speaks for itself anyhow. We celebrated three birthdays over the course of two nights.
